August Subscribe & Save Haul
I'm an avid user of Amazon's Subscribe & Save program, but only for products I know I can save on… so I typically check, compare and update every month. If you haven't used this service before, it's key to note: you can determine the shipping schedule for EACH item, anywhere from every 2 weeks to every 6 months!
This month's finds…
Venti Tech Washable Electrostatic Air Filter (Reusable HVAC & Furnace Filter)
I've been workin' up the nerve to try this thing and this is the month, since I'm out of traditional filters! With just shy of 2,500 reviews at 4.5 stars, I'm encouraged this thing will save me some dough and stop creating so much waste with bulky throwaway filters. My rental is uber dusty too, and several of the reviews mention that it works better than traditional ones too. (Pro Tip: Even if you're only going to need one of something, add it to your S&S to get the deal, then cancel it before the next shipment!)
Minties Dental Chews for Dogs
These are Bird's FAVORITE treat, which I think is so weird, but my girl has always been that! I'm meticulous on the treats I give her and these have the most minimal/least crap ingredients of all the mint dental chews. I give her one Medium a day after dinner. I also occasionally get a bag of the small ones, which can be broken by hand into 3s, for play challenges and training.
BioActive Vitamin B12 5000mcg
Not cheap, but I've scrounged the web for an equivalent that features everything in this for less and it doesn't exist. I learned a couple of years ago that there are people who may have difficulty absorbing non-methylated vitamins, especially Bs, which includes those with certain genetic predispositions, gastrointestinal issues, or age-related decline in absorption. Specifically, individuals with MTHFR gene mutations (common among ADHD folks like myself) or gastrointestinal conditions like Crohn's or celiac disease. So, these folks may benefit from taking methylated vitamins, which are already in an activated form and don't require the body's processing. Cue my trying this and WHOA, such a big difference! And… there's no harm in trying methylated vitamins, even if you're not one of the above folks, so if you're struggling with low energy, for instance, these are worth a try.
Davids Expanding Dental Floss + Refill
I've been so curious about the expanding flosses hitting the market, but decided to wait until they weren't ridiculously priced and here we are! This one features cocoa butter, mint and hydroxyapatite — a fluoride alternative, and the main structural component of tooth enamel and bone mineral that provides hardness.
Carlyle Vitamin D 10000IU | 400 Softgels
I can't get over how much we're just now discovering regarding Vitamin D! I started taking 20-30,000 IU during covid as part of an immunity regimen from a doctor (and never got it, btw), but I've kept it up since because of the incredible findings that seem to come out monthly. First, studies are showing that Vitamin D supplements help maintain telomeres, which are protective caps on chromosomes that shorten with age, potentially slowing down biological aging! Next up, studies are investigating Vitamin D's potential to reduce the risk of autoimmune diseases, advanced cancer and even COVID-19 infection and its long-term effects. Third, research suggests a link between Vitamin D levels and cognitive function. A study found that older adults with higher Vitamin D levels in their brains had a lower risk of dementia. Fourth, a meta-analysis indicated that Vitamin D supplementation, particularly at an average dose of 3,320 IU daily, may improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels and insulin sensitivity. I'd been buying it at HEB, but finally went digging for a better deal on Amazon and this bottle won this month.
Nuvadermis Silicone Scar Tape
Yes, you can absolutely find cheaper silicon tape, but it's typically so thin, it's useless, peels and rolls off, etc. — I learned my lesson on those. This stuff is thicker and even reusable. I use it on my face to counter wrinkles and dryness — it REALLY works! You can't wear moisturizer underneath it though, so I tend to alternate nights. The 2-pack offers up the best pricing via Subscribe & Save and currently features an extra 20% off deal!
Arm & Hammer Laundry Booster
Y'all know I'm a huuuuge HEB fan, but they get plenty of my money since I only shop them for groceries, so when I can save money, I do. This product is just one example… at HEB, it's currently $5.60. Via Amazon, $4.06. (Btw, if the price is the same or super close, I buy from HEB.)
AmLactin Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion
Another savings example… at HEB, it's currently $14.53. At Amazon, $11.94.
