August Subscribe & Save Haul

Image
I'm an avid user of Amazon's Subscribe & Save program, but only for products I know I can save on… so I typically check, compare and update every month. If you haven't used this service before, it's key to note: you can determine the shipping schedule for EACH item, anywhere from every 2 weeks to every 6 months!  This month's finds… Venti Tech Washable Electrostatic Air Filter (Reusable HVAC & Furnace Filter) I've been workin' up the nerve to try this thing and this is the month, since I'm out of traditional filters! With just shy of 2,500 reviews at 4.5 stars, I'm encouraged this thing will save me some dough and stop creating so much waste with bulky throwaway filters. My rental is uber dusty too, and several of the reviews mention that it works better than traditional ones too. (Pro Tip: Even if you're only going to need one of something, add it to your S&S to get the deal, then cancel it before the next shipment!) Minties Dental C...

A Little Gray Matter Lift

Image
This became a staple in my Mary Poppin's bag years ago.  There's just something about it — if I'm agitated or sluggish, a few sniffs of this stuff and my brain is weirdly calmer, but energized.  And I'm not alone in that experience… I've offered it up when out with friends, and immediately I get requests for the link because it's just good stuff! Good Smellin' Bugs-Be-Gone Stuff

Image
I was at a family reunion out in Lampasas when, at dusk, as we all gathered for dinner and to roast marshmallows around a campfire. I kept getting a whiff of something so distinct and good, and finally, while wandering around the perimeter, I realized it was these mosquito sticks that someone had stuck in the ground and lit all around us. I asked everyone and finally stumbled on our benevolent stick lighter who turned over the packaging so I could track down my own. These have a distinct scent that is soooo much better than typical mosquito products, which is why they're a staple in the summer adventure box that goes everywhere with me from May-October! Stop the Mold AND the Smell!

Image
My ex and I were half owners of a Rockport house years ago. The first few times I went, throughout the house, I picked up on the overwhelming scent of mildew and no amount of candles or cleaning made a dent in it! I scrounged the web for solutions and they came in the form of two things: a dehumidifier and Melaleuca Gel, which I would put right inside the house's AC intake vents. And I'd switch them out, each time we traveled to Rockport. Tea Tree actually kills mold and mildew spores, so this stuff is far more than a scented air gel, but actually addresses the source of musty scents — mildew.  Melaleuca Gel

Label It All

Image
Such a simple, but oh-so clever, idea! Rather than label something with tape and a sharpie, this stuff allows you to label stuff with A LOT more flexibility.  So, label that plastic bin or box, and when you're ready to store something else… you can change the label! Dry Erase Tape

Healthy Vibrations

I had a gut feeling when I bought this that science would eventually catch up to and prove my instinct right — that there's far more to its benefits than a bit of fun. First of all, for someone who sits a lot designing, this thing just feels AWESOME! But then as you start to squat and lean back and lean forward, you realize that, depending on your stance, it can work your core, legs. I mainly do squats and pushups on it and recently started doing lunges on it, which is crazy challenging, but I love it. Most importantly, while science still hasn't figured out the full mystery behind osteoporosis, we do know these vibrating plates improve bone density — that alone should have you snatching one up! Add to that, it helps improve balance and muscle strength — key for avoiding injury-causing falls as people get older. It also tremendously helps with circulation and lymphatic drainage, so it can dramatically tamp down soreness after workouts. I love taking mine on trips for others to ...

Copper Clean Your Tongue

Image
Every year I try to find one unique find to give to my family and friends for Christmas and this year it’s a copper tongue scraper! Weird, I know, but I promise, it’s also awesome!
